Housewarming

Carol and Roger returned to Pienza last week for their first stay in their new apartment.

The apartment is mostly furnished...sofa and desk in the living room, dining room table and work table here in the kitchen.

No closet yet in the bedroom.  Hopefully the Ikea kit will be assembled before the week is out, and the piles of clothes in the bedroom floor will disappear.

Carol is madly cooking away...
baking focaccia and here a chocolate cake.

Carol and Roger find Pienza beautiful any time of year.  The greens this Spring are stunning.

On a walk in the countryside yesterday, they tried counting the different shades of green...but couldn't.  There weren't enough fingers on both their hands.

Our friends Brett and Piero came down for the weekend from Florence.

Their daughter Costanza climbed her first tree...the apricot in our giardino.

And their son Vincenzo got to go for his first pony ride.

Sunday night, Carol and Roger had a group of friends over for a housewarming.  They all had such a good time, nobody thought to take a photo.

All we have is the remains of a 5 liter bottle of Rosso di Montalcino to prove it happened.

April 25th is Festa della Liberazione (Italian Independence Day).

No fireworks display, but an amateur bicycle race did come through town...twice.

There was no way Roger could even imagine trying to keep up with the racers, but it did inspire him to finally get on his bike.

The thumbs up is his acknowledgement of the gratitude he felt making it up the hill without having a heart attack.
