Coming to a device dear to you....

Stay tuned.  Our blog will start again soon.

We are leaving for Italy, and about two weeks in Slovenia, on 12 April.  This special journey is a make-up for what was to be our annual pilgrimage to Pienza in the Fall.  And, fall I did on 29 August, spending the next three months in a wheelchair while Roger learned more about being an old-fashioned wife than he ever anticipated.  With a fractured right knee and both sides of the left ankle, I was useless.  If that wasn't limiting enough, we also got two, weeks of me being down three extremities when a melanoma was excised from my right arm.  Thank goodness vocal cords weren't affected...heaven forbid!

I still have not been able to get on a bike, but tomorrow it gets packed for our flight on Sunday.  Greyson and Kelsey, we get 4 hours at CDG (Paris) airport, but not enough time to go into the city, darn.  Then it's on to Rome to unpack the bikes and put them together and to visit a few outdoor Bernini sculptures before we take off by train for a short business trip to Parma.  Then it's on to Florence to spend the weekend visiting with our friends Brett and Piero and their two kids Vincenzo and Costanza, who turns 1 in May, and who we will be meeting for the first time.  It will be a treat because Brett's parents are there for the month and we haven't seen them for a long time, even though they live in West Seattle!  20 April we arrive in the town where our hearts reside, Pienza, for a six-week visit with lovely friends and bike routes, both of which we truly enjoy.

So, while this post is narrative heavy and photo light, the rest will be more interesting.  Keep in touch via email.  We don't have steady access.  Hard to achieve through 15th-18th century thick stone walls.  We try to get access every few days, usually outside a coffee shop at 6am before anyone else gets there to slow town service.  Truth be told, Roger us out then getting a loaf of bread for the day and Carol is still asleep.  We'll be back in Seattle 29 June.

Ciao ciao a tutte.
